Humanity's Scale

To date this work has taken me longer than any other. The research on the countries with the most displaced people, the background of the American quilt pattern I laid out as I would have if I were sewing, the projection of the kuffiya pattern traced and embedded into the background, the drawing of each country’s national flower and a landmark, the inking, the penciling, and the painting. Thank you to those who participated and shared their stories of displacement with me. You’re all an inspiration. I’d also like to recognize a few who propped me up when I wanted to fall. For his mentoring and gracious spirit @egkwatercolorist It was his instruction on emulating metal work that made the scale come to life. To the creative community @imakespace for their loving support of artists and providing physical, spiritual, and emotional space for us. To my husband for understanding I need this. And lastly, @samiyusuf Brother, this album ‘When Paths Meet’ was my jam and carried me, by Allah’s grace, to the end. The live concert in Amsterdam a must watch and listen! And above all Alhumdolehlah.
